FRAGMENTI, KAS PALĪDZ DZĪVOT
Outdoor Exhibition at the Imants Ziedonis Museum
In his muse home in Murjāņi, Imants Ziedonis called the objects around him “fragments that help one live”.
In this open-air exhibition, photographer Elīna Kursīte and writer Jānis Joņevs viewed the everyday life of Ziedonis’ summer house through different eyes — eyes unaccustomed to this place. Both selected objects from the museum and created their own stories about them — through words and photographs — giving familiar, everyday things a new breath and meaning.
Writer Jānis Joņevs describes the exhibition as follows:
“Ziedonis left a wish for his museum — ‘Don’t talk about me!’
We may not fully obey that, and will talk a little about Ziedonis after all.
But let’s begin elsewhere. This house, to me as a visitor, is a new place — unlike any I’ve seen before.
I will look for unusual and out-of-place things.
Things that help one not to understand — and to wonder.”
